Davis County has 8,541 people and Bloomfield has 2,601. Underemployment is a major factor in available workforce.
Utilities & Communications
Gas & Sanitation provided by the City of Bloomfield. The city
of Bloomfield, Wapello Rural Water, or Rathbun Regional Water
provide the county with water. Electricity provided by Southern Iowa
Electric and Alliannt Energy. Telephone and High Speed Internet service
provided by Citizens Mutual Telephone Company which is locally owned
and operated. Digital and fiber optics used in the closed loop system.
Transportation Services
Airport: 3401 feet of concrete runway. No railroad services available in Davis County, nearest piggyback service is 20 miles.
Municipal Services
Local government consists of Council and Mayor for the four
incorporated communities. The City of Bloomfield does have a zoning
ordinance in effect. The county and other communities are not
zoned at this time. Have Countywide Emergency Medical Service
formed in 1992.

DSL service,Machine shops, tool/die shops, electric motor repair shops,
motel/hotels, daily & weekly newspapers, cable tv, banks, chamber
of commerce, community/recreation center with a banquet room with
capacity of 400. Community certified in tourism, industrial and
commercial section of the Community Economic Preparedness Program
(CEPP).
Education
Davis County Community Schools K-12 grades. Indian Hills Community College, 20 miles (local campus in Bloomfield).
